Career statistics

ImageMichael made his county debut in 1992, was awarded his county cap in 1999 and was captain of the club from 2001 to 2003.

He skippered England Under-18s to South Africa in 1992-3, and to Denmark in 1993. He also played for England Under-19s on their tour to Sri Lanka in 1993-94 and was selected for England A against West Indies in 2001.

He has passed 1,000 in a season once in his career and has a highest first-class score of 236 against Oxford University in 2001.

Outside of cricket he is a qualified PE teacher.
